The concept of Wallibees came to be in 2007 after my daughter worked on a video project about Montessori for the home. One aspect of the Montessori philosophy involves hanging photographs at a child's eye level. This inspired me to come up with a way to incorporate pictures that would stay on the wall and not harm the baby (or the walls!) At first, I made balsa wood frames and placed canvas over them. It was safe, but storage became an issue. They were just too bulky. Eventually, self sticking wall decals were invented! Perfect solution! They are easily removable and replaceable for grown ups, but too difficult for small children to peel off the wall. They are flat sheets, so they don't take up much room!
For years we gave them away as baby shower gifts. It wasn’t until our granddaughter was born that we saw first hand how engaging these wall decals are to infants and toddlers. After this realization, our daughter, son and daughter-in-law worked with me to produce the Wallibees on a larger scale. We wanted to make them, not just for family and friends, but for other parents and teachers as well!
